Subhiksha school

Our school currently has 60 children from 6 to 12 years. We also have a small play group for the younger siblings from 3-5 years.

We work with children in slums who have been deprived of their basic right to education, health and a dignified living. Poverty, broken families, abuse, domestic violence and other factors force these children into the streets. They get into begging, rag picking, vending, etc to earn a living and do not attend school. We run a care centre and school for the street children. We counsel the parents and persuade them to send the children to school. We have a child-friendly curriculum integrating learning with fun and play. We start them with non-formal education and slowly move into a structured curriculum. We create awareness about hygiene, health, values, life skills and equip them to lead a more dignified life. Additionally, we give the children nutritious meals, clothing, school books, stationery, etc.
